tropicana.jpgIf you could get a vacation package for $64.50 that included the terms below, would you be interested?

3 day, 2 night stay for two people at one of these hotels

  • Las Vegas — Tropicana Hotel & Casino - Riviera - Gold Coast - Four Queens
  • Laughlin — Aquarius Casino Resort - Colorado Belle
  • Lake Tahoe — Harvey’s Hotel & Casino
  • Mesquite – Oasis Resort & Casino
  • Reno — Harrah’s Hotel & Casino
  • Tunica — Grant Casino & Hotel

Each package includes various complimentary features such as free food, drinks, souvenirs, gaming, etc. depending on which hotel you choose.

I received a solicitation from Silver State Getaway Corporation that said that these are promotional packages usually purchased by companies to give away to employees, used as fundraisers or “free with purchase…” sales.  It doesn’t sound like there’s much of a catch, but you have to buy 8 packages to get the $64.50 rate.  They will provide you with free promotional material including full color 17×22 posters; promotional flyers; and entry forms and balloons.

So, if you’re interested in becoming part of a minimum order at PMZ, let me know (khuston@pmz.com).  If I get enough responses, I will consider getting these at this price.

Here’s an interesting local event you might want to attend.  As you know, George Lucas is a Modesto native and several of his films have themes from the Central Valley. This is coming up soon!  June 2nd, Modesto Junior College West Campus at the new Mary Stuart Rogers Center.  Oh, by the way, they’re showing Star Wars!  More info at www.starwarstribute.com

kcra.jpgLike most real estate agents, traveling is pretty common. Whether you’re going on vacation or attending a conference, there’s usually a hotel involved. This story caused me to think twice about my stay. A hidden-camera investigation by KCRA-TV in Sacramento showed how easy it is to get into someone else’s hotel room without permission or a key.

The station put more than two dozen hotels to the test, including many of the biggest chains in the business. Several times the station was able to access rooms by claiming to have lost a key, or by simply asking a maid to let them in. One hotel where access to rooms was fairly easy is where pilots and flight attendants routinely stay. Department of Homeland Security officials say such a breach is a national security concern.

unkown_soldier.jpg

The employees, friends and families of PMZ Real Estate are honored to take this day to recognize the sacrifices of America’s fallen and the families they left behind. Today we join our nation to pay our debt of gratitude in memory of our fallen.

Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday that is observed on the last Monday of May (observed this year on 2007-05-28). It was formerly known as Decoration Day. This holiday commemorates U.S. men and women who have died in military service to their country. It began first to honor Union soldiers who died during the American Civil War. After World War I, it expanded to include those who died in any war or military action. One of the longest standing traditions is the running of the Indianapolis 500, which has been held in conjunction with Memorial Day since 1911.

We’re not endorsing this, just passing along the news about this new website. This shouldn’t replace your current appraisal process - it’s just help satisfy your curiosity in a quick way online. Here’s the news:
Visit Eppraisal.com and type in a home on their homepage and hit submit.

Eppraisal will return a detailed home appraisal with comparable properties and neighborhood demographic information. It will also provide you with detailed information report on the subject property. The report includes details that read similarly to a property profile you might receive from your title representative. Including property characteristics, location information and sales history. Now you can go online, and pull information you need for your clients, yourself.

Yahoo acquired Eppraisal.com on Wednesday to help bolster there real estate search engine.

rising_chart.jpgThe beleaguered housing industry is sending mixed signals, with sales of new homes surging in April by the biggest amount in 14 years while prices endured a record plunge.

Analysts said the price drop could provide evidence of builders’ desperation. They are looking to reduce a glut of unsold homes in the face of the worst slump in sales in more than a decade.

The Commerce Department reported Thursday that sales of new single-family homes jumped by 16.2 percent in April to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 981,000 units.

That was the biggest one-month sales gain since a 16.4 percent surge in April 1993. Even with the increase, however, sales are 10.6 percent below the level of a year ago.

The median price of a new home — the midway point between the costliest and cheapest — fell to $229,100, a record 11.1 percent below the March level. The price was 10.9 percent below the level of a year ago, the biggest year-over-year price decline since 1970.

success_failure_sign.JPGI found this list of “totally stupid” business ideas and it inspired me to think.  You know, even if you think your plan is “stupid,” or will never work - think again.  Many of these people had faith in themselves and took a risk - and succeeded!  So if you’re in a slump in this housing market, don’t start drinking and sink into a depression.  There’s hope!

Get those creative, innovative thoughts crankin’ and take a chance.  Perhaps try a different marketing strategy using our new QuantumMail system?  How about reaching out to a new audience?  Check out the training being offered at PMZ University and take a class you may not have previously attended because you were too busy.  Drop into the office of one of your colleagues that has been in the business for a while and ask them what they think you should do.  You know the saying, “think outside the box!”

To inspire you, take a look at the stories of success below (click on READ MORE) Read the rest of this entry »

Maybe this is an idea for PMZ 2.0?  Would you keep a blog on your agent page?  Comment and let me know your thoughts.
