Coming quarter one of 2009, agents who belong to any of the following MLS’s:

Bay Area Real Estate Information Services, Inc. (BAREIS MLS®), MetroList Services, Inc. (MetroList®), San Francisco Association of REALTORS® (SFAR), MLSListings Inc, Bay East Association of REALTORS®, Contra Costa Association of REALTORS®, East Bay Regional Data, Inc.

will have full access to Real Estate listings in the following counties:

Alameda, Contra Costa, El Dorado, Marin, Mendocino, Merced, Monterey, Napa, No. San Mateo, Placer, Sacramento, San Benito, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislaus, Yolo.

That’s 21 counties and 70,000 real estate agents with no multiple MLS memberships.

As part of the agreement, all four MLS’s have installed Strong Authentication, a level of enhanced data security that adds a layer of user validation beyond simple User Name and Password authentication.
“This is a continuation of a process to improve service to real estate agents in Northern California while reducing total fees paid for MLS access. These four MLSs are industry leaders willing to commit to perform and to do so on time, on budget and at no additional cost to their subscribers,” said Tom Beede, President and CEO of MetroList.

Starting December 15th real estate agents and brokers who belong to any one of the four MLSs will be able to sign-on to their primary MLS and through the secure single sign-on process go directly to any of the participating MLSs. Agents and brokers will be able to add and maintain listings, run searches, and use all of the basic MLS functions through this unique reciprocal agreement within any of the three other MLSs.

A new agreement between RE InfoLink, Central Valley MLS,  San Francisco Association of Realtors, Bay Area Real Estate Information Services Inc., and MetroList Services Inc., will now allow registered members of participating MLSs to access all the features of all the participating MLSs without having to pay a membership fee for each.

Each organization will keep a localized database of all of the participating MLSs data so that agents won’t have to login to each MLS separately to find what they want.

According to Inman news, MLS organizations in Southern California are working to follow suit, while the California Association of Realtors is looking to create a statewide MLS.
